Yoga For Children

Initiate your children into yoga as early as possible. It will give them the head start to be more progressive, mentally calm and physically active the ideal mind and body combination to achieve the highest goals in the future.

But make sure that they learn yoga correctly ideally, five-year-olds should be up early in the mornings and pack in some yoga before they are off to school. It is not for nothing that the sages have said: Early to bed and early to rise makes everyone healthy, wealthy and wise. Children, like adults, must begin their day with a glass of lukewarm water, starting with half a glass. This helps to cleanse the system and once this chore is through, they can begin their asanas.

Asanas should be done for a few seconds, and each repeated three to five times. Over time, the intensity and the frequency can be increased. Always do Shavasana (lying calmly in a supine position) last to relax the body at the end of every asana.

The clothing is equally important. Tights are out and children must wear what doesn’t fit. Essentially, this means loose clothing that allows the body to breathe. Asanas should be done on an even and soft ground. If you are opting for the floor, make sure that it is thickly carpeted. After half an hour of asanas. It is time for breakfast. But abandon the quick, fibre-free breakfast of today and opt for something more traditional choose from among sprouted cereals, moong,or gram pulse, an apple or two bananas and a glass or milk. All asanas are not advised for children. For children from five to 12, the best asanas are Sarvangasana, Halasana, Padmasana, Yogmudrasana, Paschimottanasana, Tandasana, and Surya Namaskar (all the 12 stages).

Between them, the asanas make sure that your child grows up healthy, with a good height and physique. Also, the bones are strengthened and a natural fall out is that the children are happier when they are healthy and bright as well for their studies. The other point that makes getting up early and spending time on yoga worthwhile, is that both intestines and appetites function healthily and normally. But if you are subjecting small children to the rigours of yoga, make sure that they eat a healthy diet that includes milk, cereals, pulses, green vegetables and fruits.

Using skin care products on one hand and smoking on the other hand is ironical. And hookah is not really different. Maintaining fitness begins from moderating personal habits. This also means controlling the medicines intake in order to avoid unwanted drug interactions.
